“When I decided to adapt ‘Summer’ for television, I knew we’d need more than one season to honor the story we are telling,” the author said in a press release about the show’s early renewal. Ahead of the show’s premiere date, Variety reported last week that “The Summer I Turned Pretty” has already been renewed for a second season.

Han served as co-showrunner and executive producer for the first season.

The series, just like the book, will also examine the relationships between the teenagers and their parents and the lifelong friendship between two mothers. “The Summer I Turned Pretty” - which was actually released before “To All the Boys I've Loved Before” in 2009 - tells the story of a love triangle between two brothers and one girl who have been friends their entire childhood.
